When an aircraft is on the ground, the specification that matters is the date. We hold capacity for expedite work, quote obsolete and low-volume part numbers that others decline, and kit components for scheduled checks so the hangar is not chasing a shortage at the bench.

Typical part · datum scheme
Every part number carries a datum scheme agreed before the first chip is cut. Features are measured from the datums the design uses, not from whatever surface is convenient on the machine — which is what keeps our numbers and your receiving inspection's numbers the same numbers.
Key characteristics are called out on the plan, gauged in process, and reported on the certification package.

Nothing advances because it is late. Each gate has an owner, an objective record and a defined exit — which is what makes the schedule you are quoted the schedule you get.

RFQ and DFM review
Drawing, model and specification review before a price is issued. Manufacturability risks, tooling needs and specification conflicts are raised in writing, not discovered at first article.

Router, work instructions, fixture design and CAM built from the released digital product definition under revision control. Key characteristics flowed to the inspection plan.

Full AS9102 package — Forms 1, 2 and 3 — against a ballooned drawing, with raw material and special process certifications attached. Delta FAI on any change to form, fit, function or source.

Final inspection and release

Quality & compliance
A quality system built to the standard that is arriving, not the one that is leaving.
VS Aerospace is implementing its quality management system now, which is an advantage rather than a gap: it is being written against the 2026 revisions of both governing standards instead of being retrofitted to them in two years' time.
AS9100D → IA9100
Aerospace quality management. Documented against AS9100D today and structured for IA9100, the renamed 2026 revision, which tightens supplier risk tiering, data integrity and human-factors controls.
ISO 9001
The underlying management system standard. Built against ISO 9001:2015 and aligned to the ISO 9001:2026 revision.
AS9102
First article inspection. Forms 1, 2 and 3 against a ballooned characteristic list, with delta FAI triggered by design, process, source or tooling change.
AS9103
Variation management of key characteristics. KCs are identified at planning, measured in process, and trended rather than merely accepted.
AS9145
Advanced product quality planning and production part approval, applied where a customer requires APQP/PPAP evidence for a new or transferred part number.
AS5553 / AS6174
Counterfeit prevention for electronic parts and for materiel. Purchasing controlled to franchised and approved sources with certification review at receipt.
AS9146
Foreign object damage prevention, applied as a shop-floor discipline with defined zones, tool control and inspection points — not a poster.
Calibration
Gauges and measuring equipment on scheduled recall with traceability to NIST through an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory.
Special processes
Anodize, chem film, heat treat, NDT, shot peen and finish placed only with Nadcap-accredited sources that also hold your approval.
Export control
ITAR and EAR classification reviewed at quotation and again at shipment. Technical data handled under access control appropriate to its classification.
Manufacturing readiness
We speak in MRL, because your program office does.
Manufacturing Readiness Levels describe how ready a process is to build at rate — the production counterpart to TRL. VS Aerospace supports part numbers from MRL [6] upward and is set up to carry a program through pilot line, low-rate initial production and full rate.
